We are learning...2nd semester

Welcome! There are 2 places that you can find out what your child is learning. You’ve found the first place right here! Second place is in the CScope Parent Portal where you will get an overview of each six weeks in each subject. The CScope link is right here on my blog!

1/30-2/3
Math- We will investigate linear measurement, perimeter, and area using standard units of measure. We will relate time to the minute on analog/digital clocks using student clocks, recording sheets.
Science- We will investigate the relative size and position of the planets including interactions and relationship of the sun, Earth, and moon using constructed models.
Social Studies- We will examine the heroic deeds of individuals who have impacted communities using a timeline.

2/6-2/10
Math-We will relate time to the minute on analog/digital clocks using student clocks and recording sheets.
We will record temperatures in Fahrenheit using real world situations.
Science- We will investigate the relative size and position of the planets including interactions and relationship of the sun, Earth, and moon using constructed models.
Social Studies- We will research the heroic deeds of individuals who have impacted communities using a cereal box research. We will investigate the effect of human processes on communities using flip books and journals.

2/13-2/17
Math-We will examine 2-dimensional figures to find figures that are congruent and may have lines of symmetry using a geometric figures booklet. We will identify and extend geometric patterns using pattern blocks.
Science-We will investigate the relative size and position of the planets including interactions and relationship of the S/E/M using constructed models.
Social Studies- We will investigate the effect of human and physical processes on communities using flip books and journals. We will continue to listen to hero presentations.

2/20-2/24
Math- We will classify 2dimensional figures by their attributes using cards, clay models, and journals.
Science-We will describe the sun as our closest star and examine the source of its light and heat energy using a reader's theater.
Social Studies-We will examine the heroic deeds of Anne Frank using journals. We will continue to listen to hero presentations.

2/27-3/2
Math- We will classify 3dimensional figures by their attributes using solid figures, clay models, and journals.
Science- We will observe, identify, and collect data related to several personal inherited traits using bar graphs, posters, and notebooks.
Social Studies- We will identify inventors who have influenced communities using hand profiles and journals.

3/5-3/9
Math- We will collect and interpret data in pictographs and bar graphs using grid paper.
Science- We will observe and recognize that some animals exhibit learned behaviors to help meet their basic needs.
Social Studies- We will identify inventors who have influenced communities using a timeline and mini-person.
